Looking for somewhere to go this holiday season? Dollywood might just prove to be your best option. From the park’s spectacular decorations to its award-winning shows, there’s a reason that their Christmas event was voted the world’s best for the eighth year in a row. Still not convinced? Keep reading.

1They have four million Christmas lights

No, I’m not kidding. They really put up 4,000,000 of them. Strand after strand of lights were painstakingly arranged on buildings, trees, and rides all throughout the park. It took so long to set them all up that crews had to start as early as July. That’s a TON of lights!

2They have A Chirstmas Carol with holographic effects

Returning this year for its final season, Dollywood’s A Christmas Carol brings the classic tale to life with the latest holographic technology, fully orchestrated musical tracks, and a talented 16-member cast. Interesting fact: Dolly Parton plays the Ghost of Christmas Past.

3Their shows are the best the world’s theme parks have to offer

Yes, even better than Disney’s. This season, Dollywood entertainment includes Christmas in the SmokiesAn Appalachian Christmas‘Twas the Night Before ChristmasO’ Holy NightChristmas with The Kingdom Heirs, and the afore mentioned A Christmas Carol.

4They have family orientented entertainment

Attention parents: Dollywood has something for the kids, too! Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer comes to the park this year, giving families a chance to meet Rudolph and his friends, decorate cookies, and play fun reindeer games. Oh, and don’t miss the nightly Parade of Lights, featuring a procession of larger-than life toys and characters!

5Their food is unparalleled

Yet another of Dollywood’s many “best” records is for their delicious eatables. Families can finish their visit with a giant Christmas feast, hot chocolate, pumpkin pies, and s’mores.

6They have (soon to be) eight roller coasters

Of course, it would be pointless not to mention Dollywood’s offerings in the way of thrills. Their coasters remain open until January 3rd, weather permitting. In the lineup is a launched family coaster (FireChaser Express), a dark ride (Mystery Mine), a wing coaster (Wild Eagle), and more. Next year, Lightning Rod will become the world’s first launched wooden coaster when it opens in March.

What are you waiting for? Treat yourself this Christmas with a trip to Dollywood. You won’t regret it.
