The news we’ve been waiting for ever since Skyplex Orlando was announced two years ago has finally arrived: Today, the complex was officially approved by the Orange County Commissioning Board.

Skyplex is a multi-million dollar entertainment complex set to open in Orlando. The attraction’s lineup includes Skyscraper, the world’s tallest roller coaster, as well as a record-breaking drop tower, an observation tower, a flat ride, and a zip-line.

A couple months ago, the commissioning board met to vote on SKYPLEX after receiving complaints regarding the extreme height of the proposed coaster. The result was a 4 to 3 vote against the project, but was joined with plans to make a final decision in December.

After a heated debate led by local residents, businessmen, and avid thrill seekers, the commissioning board finally gave in after enforcing minor limitations to the height of the tower.

Now that the complex has finally been approved, co-owner Joshua Wallack says to expect construction on the attraction to begin soon, with the grand opening set to 2018.
