Do you like loops? The Smiler shattered all records for most inversions when it opened in 2013. Let’s take a ride.

The Smiler at Alton Towers is a tangled spaghetti bowl of a coaster, with two lift hills and a record-breaking fourteen inversions (four corkscrews, three dive loops, a heartline roll, a sidewinder, a sea serpent roll, and a cobra roll). A more fitting name to describe the intensity of the dizziness would be “Washing Machine: The Ride.”

Watch an on-ride POV (point-of-view) of the Smiler below:

Do you want to catch a ride on the Smiler? Sadly, the ride has caused several major accidents involving colliding trains in recent years. It’s currently SBNO (standing but not operating) while Alton Towers improves the safety of the coaster. UPDATE: Smiler will be reopening for the 2016 season.

Check in next week when we’ll take a ride on Silver Star!
